New section for book reviews

2026-10-06

We invite readers of the Revista Portuguesa de Psicanálise to use the “Book Review Submissions” section to submit their texts. This space aims to engage more closely with current publishing developments, highlight relevant works, and promote reading, reflection, and debate within the psychoanalytic community.

Reviews will be published regularly on the digital platform, without the space and scheduling constraints inherent to the print edition of the RPP journal. Some reviews may also be included in a future issue of the RPP when the work under review is connected to the issue’s theme.

Texts should comply with the criteria set out in the RPP editorial guidelines and will be reviewed by the Journal’s Editorial Board.

To inaugurate this new section, we present a review of Colonialismo – Entre a Psicanálise e a Arte (Colonialism – Between Psychoanalysis and Art), edited by Sandra Roberto and published by Freud & Companhia. This is a unique and essential work that creates space for thinking, questioning, and working through the many silences that shape the social, political, and affective dynamics of Portuguese colonialism. Through Cláudia Almeida’s review, readers of the Journal are invited to discover this book, described as “a guide to citizenship” and as a path towards “decolonising thought.”
